What happens when most of your team is Indian?
I recently received an offer from Google India for an L3 position. But before that I had plans of MS in US. I am also done with my GRE and TOEFL and I was in the process of applying to the colleges for fall 22. But this google offer has put me in confusion. I am not sure if US is for me, but I really envy the enjoyment and income of people working in US. What are the chances of internal transfer to google US if I join google L3 in India? Is it a good idea to go for MS with 5 YOE 3 years down the line? Also is it a good time to go to US for MS given the huge Indian crowd going nowadays(even the most idiotic person I know, who cannot speak a full sentence in English is going too). Finally, what should I do? Current TC: 20 L Google TC: 40 L YOE: 2.3 #google #masters #h1b
Both are good options , take any and have a blast 💥
Get G, leave after a year of vesting and then do the MS. G on your resume will open up lot of opportunities later on I think Best case, you transfer internationally from within G
I was considering that. But say I join G in Dec 2021. 1 Year completes in Dec 2022. I'll have to go for MS in fall 2023 . Won't it be too late given I'm 2019 passout?
It won't be too late, my colleague was a 2016 grad and left for FY 21. As long as you don't have the get married get settled pressure 😂
Brah get G. Masters you can do any year you want. Can't say the same about clearing long ass Google rounds.
My take is, if somehow I managed to crack it now, I hope I will be able to get through it post MS as well (if not G, some FAANG). So, If I go a year early , I can earn in $$$ for one more year.
It's not about money bro, it's a validation. When you get hired after masters, you gonna show "New" experience on your resume?
Do MS if you aren't just looking to get a degree. It's all about the experience. Also, don't worry about lagging behind in your career. After MS, you can start with at least L4 postion given that you already have > 2 yoe.
My primary goal is to get a job there and earn $. neither the degree nor the experience.
In that case you can take an internal transfer from Google India to US after a year. But it comes with a *. Google should have job opening in the US and your manager has to be supportive.
Dude if you really want to move to US in long term go for MS and apply for jobs there and if you want to stay in India then go for Google but staying here may also open you an ample of opportunities in future depending on the performance and skill expertise that you gain. That being said if you’re looking to explore and ready to take risks this is the right time for you to move to US and if you’re thinking from monetary perspective then stay for atleast 6-7 years over there otherwise its not worth it. And I agree with you if you cracked it now then you would be able to crack it later on as well. So think from all angles (monetary, stay, family, risks, opportunities). And during 1-4 initial years of work almost everyone comes in dilemma whether one should pursue MS or not, and personally I haven’t seen much people who have a strong reason to do it everyone thinks the grass is greener on the other side which motivates them to pursue MS.
Can you share the breakdown for Google TC?
