Google: 231K Location: Bay Area Base - 145K Bonus - 15% (Highest is 22%) Equity - 195K (4 years) Snap: 205K Location: LA Base - 140K Bonus - 10% (Highest is 40%) Equity - 160K (3 years; monthly vesting) Yearly additional equity - 50K (starts vesting only after original grant fully vested) Google offer is for a YouTube team and looks clearly better given WLB and stacking refreshers. But Snap has monthly vesting and equity could potentially be a š. Which one would you pick at this time and why? Yoe: 1 TC: š„/ <200K
Snap for quicker growth and once you get to L4 in 2-3 years TC will bump to 350+.
Whatās the hike on promotion? Also can you detail how one can go from 200 to 350 internally in 2 years
2 yrs, not 3. Just an L4 promo lol. Literally 200 becomes 350
And here I thought G has monthly vesting.
Yes, it does, but only if you are granted >X RSUs.
Doogle
Donāt optimize for comp early in your career. Where can you learn and do more to max your lifetime value?
Do you think Google here offers lesser lifetime value?
No one I know got more than 15% bonus at snap last cycle. Getting more than the average for bonus means someone on your team is getting less.
I appreciate the candor!!
Google has monthly vesting too. Depends on the number of GSUs (needs to be larger than some fixed number which I forgot) but it's monthly or quarterly
Google has monthly vesting too. Pretty sure you have more than enough RSUs. This is a no brainer for Google imo because of WLB and stacking refreshers.
Google won't give you a stock refresh in 2021. So subtract 40k to account for that
Can you expand on this? How much are refreshers usually tho?
LA is such a better place to live in than the sillicon valley...
No. SF > LA. And YT is in San Bruno.
Have you seen the Black Mirror episode āNosediveā thatās LA culture
