Does google have a rule that if you don’t get promoted to L5 in 3 years, you can get pipped? Heard similar rule about Meta and hence wondering. Tc: 258k
Now L3 can also be terminal level
L4 is like senior software engineer at non faang companies. And as you may know, senior software engineer is a terminal role. Ie..Salesforce SMTS role. But I believe L4 was the most layed off role so you might not want to coast lol
The majority of the company would be pipped. Google is all about cost savings nowadays, and delayed promos / tight quotas is a key lever.
I asked my manager the same question and he said there is no official guidance for this. So he denied any terminal levels.
What is L4 responsibility
It used to be the case. It no longer is.
No that’s Facebook
Nope, you can “coast” at L4
What is the duration b4 which a noogler can apply for new jobs internally ? When moving to a new role is there chance of a level change or that is discouraged ?

When I joined my manager told me L4 is terminal and it's ok to remain one indefinitely
This is true. Case in point: me, was on L4 doing just enough (EE) for 6 years. Although I was laid off eventually so take that as you may.
ee for 6y without promo? Wtf
