Hi blind Passed HC for Google L4 in a HCOL city. Currently team matching (any tips on what teams are good/bad, WLB and visibility wise?) Did not do well in system design for Amazon and got downleveled to SDE I / L4, and also looking to match with a team there (rejected from original position I applied for). I know that my offers aren’t guaranteed yet, but if/once it gets to that stage I want to be prepared and finalize it quickly. I know Google lowballs and Amazon has been paying a lot recently for all levels. Is there a world where Amazon offers more and can act as a relevant competing offer? And even if that does happen, would showing that number to google reveal that I was downleveled at Amazon, and hurt me rather than help me in getting a better offer from G? For reference, if G offers close to 300k I would happily take it. Any idea if that’s possible with effectively no competing offer? Location is both at a HCOL city. Any advice/tips on what to look out for in team matching process (I am clueless), what my strategy should look like for negotiation, or just general TC bands to expect would be greatly appreciated. I don’t plan on interviewing with any more companies, and I’m not going to lie when negotiating. Thank you in advance TC 195k YoE 4.5 #Google #Amazon #l4google #teammatch #negotiation #swe
Don’t take Amazon even if they give you L5. Not worth the money
Noted. Nonetheless an L5 offer from Amazon would've been great to have as competing.
Amazon sucks monkey balls and i will personally beat you up for taking it. Dont even consider it at l4
Isn’t Google L4 = Amazon L5? Seems like a better career move to go to G

Modi is a legend, will be remembered for centuries to come
A job is not just the TC. It is also the benefits. It is WLB. Eg google has 20 weeks paternity leave while amazon has 6. Huge difference Also read the reviewes and pulse scores here on blind. Even if amazon pays more I won't go there. Also you are one level lower in amazon, that is two years of your career
I hear you. Thanks for your take, I'll probably go with Google
