I interned at Google over the summer as a PMM and was fortunate enough to receive a return offer. Please let me know your thoughts about my offer and what numbers I could look to renegotiate to, as well as general advice on how to negotiate. I am planning to continue recruiting to obtain competing offers. My stats - Undergrad: Bachelors of Economics at top public Ivy YOE: 3 years of tech consulting at a tier 2 consulting firm MBA: Top 20 business school My offer - Base: 115k Bonus: 15% RSU: 79k over 4 years Sign-on: 25k Thank you.
It's ok, but I think you could do better money wise. If this is in California you can for sure do better. My profile is similar to yours and I started post MBA in Utah (low col) at base 132.5k, 15% bonus, 200k over 4yrs, 25k sign on. Let me know if you want to chat. That said, Google is great for your resume
Wow, that qualtrics (?) offer smokes just about every post-MBA tech offer I saw when I was graduating... Only one that competes is Amazon with their backloaded vesting schedule and high signing bonus (split over 2 years), and that's for PM/PMT Looks like you just hit the jackpot tbh, especially getting that in Utah since that tops everything I knew of in SF/LA/SEA in big tech (I know Adobe adjusts down significantly for COL there)
We're hiring... Just saying. I had 2 other Ms degrees and 8 yoe. I also had competing offers in non tech that paid much more, so that may be part of it. If you're interested in qualtrics I know you could get something similar. Ive seen most recent people coming in around 120k base, 20k bonus, and 130-150k stock. The offers have gone down a bit as we have gotten more name recognition. In some ways you have to pay more to get elite talent to come to Utah. I like it, but it's not where most are dying to go
Looks like a solid L4 pmm offer. Bonus is by level - try to push for higher base, rsu, and/or sign on. Google is more willing to move with competing offer from other fang, especially Facebook. (FYI I’ve worked at 3 fangs + top 5 mba)
What is a public ivy?
I’m actually in the same boat right now, do you have any update on how negotiations ended up?
Looks to be about in line with what you'd get offered at other big tech places for post-MBA PMM. I think FAANG/M don't negotiate much on MBA offers unless you have a crazy competing offer. For reference, I think the standard MS MBA PMM offer to start last year was something like 117 base/35 signing/55 stock/10% bonus PMM offers will also probably come in lower than PM offers. I think it's a pretty solid/standard post-MBA PMM offer, but good luck with negotiations and congrats on the offer! If nothing else it'll be a great addition to your resume.
Got it, thank you for the info! I wasn't aware they didn't negotiate much on MBA offers without a crazy competing offer, or of last year's standard offer. Definitely aware that PMM pays less than PM, so I am happy with the offer, but of course looking to softly see whether I am able to negotiate any further.
