TC: 284k I just looked at the relocation package from google If i cash out, i only get 8.4k pre tax, so is it better to get a 45 days 1B temp housing instead? Would appreciate any suggestions. #Google #NYC #relocation
Opt for the cash, NYC rentals are easy and quick to get (if you’re paying and looking in the right spots) you could stay in a hotel for less than a week and be sorted in a new place in no time (from my own exp)
What level?
Do not opt for the cash If you use the Plus Relocation Package and get things reimbursed, you get way more money. Ex: you could cash out 10k (before tax), or you could get plus relocation and get 7k (AFTER TAX TRUED UP) "furniture allowance," 4k miscellaneous budget, and still have relo points left over for other things
Thanks! I am just quite worried about finding a right spot to rent once I got there. But at the same time, moving into a temp housing then moving out seems a bit of hassle. Btw, my relocation package doesn't seem to have plus relocation as one of option. And if i use all the relo points, i only get 8.4k :(
How many points did you get? Plus Relocation is Google's relocation vendor, at least for California Double check if that 8.4k is before or after taxes. They trued mine up (paid a lot more than X so it was taxed back down to X after) which still came out to more than just cash
8.4K > 1.5 month rent ?
Relocation package has more than just temp housing
1B1B for 1.5 month rent + 1.6k seems not bad from my limited experience
