Google New Grad Offer

My current offer after negotiation is 116k base, 130k gsu, 50k sign on. Is there any way to increase this offer and is this actually a strong offer that's ok to accept?

Facebook CIA Spy Dec 14, 2017

Master's? Base is great. You can probably negotiate ~$50k more in RSU but not without competing offers. Congrats!

Nope! Ugrad. This offer matches my strongest right now. I really need a really strong offer as my family has a lot.. of debt to pay off. Unfortunately, I'm done interviewing so I won't have any stronger offers. Any suggestions on how to get stronger offer?

Facebook CIA Spy Dec 14, 2017

The base is really good for an undergrad offer. You definitely need a top offer (FB, Uber, LinkedIn, etc.) to be able to negotiate on RSUs effectively. Without that, you can ask for a larger sign-on bonus and they will most likely just say OK. Tell them you're currently in the process of interviewing at a couple other places, but if they can up their offer by $30k RSU and $30k sign-on bonus you will sign right away. They will most likely take you up on either the RSUs or the sign-on bonus, and that's the best you can do.

Seems in line for a new grad offer. Equity can move with counters.

It started at 100 but moved up to 130 with counters. Hopefully I can get it up to 160 with one final push.

It’s a strong offer. Stop getting distracted and start focusing on how you plan to shine in your new role. Go kick butt and wow every one with your performance. You will come ahead much stronger in no time and feel good and proud of your self. Nickling and diming puts the pressure on you. Not wprth it. Google offer is a great offer.

I appreciate your advice. If it weren't for substantial debt I wouldn't be caring so much about a few grand here and there. But yeah I'll go kick butt like you suggested!

Netflix idwO72 Dec 15, 2017

This is wrong. Now is your time to “nickel and dime” or negotiate for more. A simple email or conversation can easily put 10-20k more in your bank account. Focus once you start, obviously. Offer is strong but if it’s their initial offer you can almost always push for more and get it easily

Wow Google has really started low balling on RSU's. Thank god I didn't intern there twice.

RHoO32 OP Dec 15, 2017

Yeah man I've heard that prev years rsu was much higher. I'd really like to not get lowballed but tbh their offer just matched that of MSFT, which is my strongest offer in terms of liquid. So I'm kinda lost on what to do.. Any advice that could possibly make those rsus near 200?

Facebook CIA Spy Dec 15, 2017

200? That's unreasonably high. At FB, only returning rockstar interns (a small percentage of interns ever get this rating) get $200k in RSU.

OP, how much in debt are you / your family?

RHoO32 OP Dec 15, 2017

Few hundred grand?

Facebook KurisuM Dec 15, 2017

Woah, okay, that will definitely take a while to repay. I hope it's not from student loans.

eBay jerod Dec 15, 2017

130k per year or over 4 years?

Facebook KurisuM Dec 15, 2017

What do you think, genius?

Hahahahahahaha that sarcasm tho. 130 over 4 years.
