I received an offer letter from Google and it says start month as October, Can I delay my start month to December ? Just wanting to keep extra buffer to ensure my visa related stuff at current employer gets completed. Is it possible to extend start date post acceptance of offer? Thanks in advance
Man, if only you had a point of contact at Google, that would be crazy
You can definitely ask for that, it's up to the HR whether they're gonna do it or not depending on the criticality. But in most of the cases they do, I've postponed mine a couple of times, but it was just by 2 or 3 weeks though. All the best, give it a shot!
I wouldn't delay anything in this economic climate. With all the rescinds etc, no one at any company is truly 100% safe. It's better to land before things close off (potentially).
yes possible. if you already had team match then hiring manager need to be ok with new date. talk to ur recruiter.
I also noticed that my offer letter doesn’t mention the joining date . Only the month and year. I’m actually keen on joining earlier, but BAL immigration team is taking their own sweet time to prepare my I-129.
So the start date mentioned in letter was post H1b transfer or its the date when they begin immigration process?
I’m coming on TN visa (Canadian citizen). Date was supposed to be after my TN is pre-approved by USCIS.
Yes you can but its risky in this environment. Even October is risky.
Yeah. They are very flexible
So even if I accept the offer which says start by Oct, they still allow me to join late around Dec due to visa issues?
Yeah. But better to be upfront
Check what is performance cycle for google and consider if you will miss out on anything due to late joining.
Yes
