Is this a good offer? 225 base 20% bonus 700k rsu I don’t have much leverage and I think the recruiter realises that too. I interviewed with other companies but haven’t gotten feedback. (How) do I try to buy more time? or should just take what I can get? Again, is this a good offer? Update: Thank you for your insights! I went forward with it. A couple of you have asked what I did for used for prep, resources, etc. This article gives a really good round up of what to expect. https://igotanoffer.com/blogs/product-manager/google-product-manager-interview There are a few other things like product alliance for Google which had videos that teach you how to “lead” an interview, something I found really useful. Send me a dm and I’ll forward a little writeup I got for my prep too from an old Googler.
Level and current TC?
This sounds like a decent L6 offer. I know someone recently joined exactly with the same offer in Bay Area. You can negotiate another 100k in RSU and ask for 30-50k sign on. Use your Meta comp to negotiate if you don’t have competing offer and your skill set, why you think you deserve more etc..
thanks for the advice! I'll try to make that push wondering if being in Bay Area helped that negotiation in any way
Sure, which location are you at ? If not in Bay Area or NY then this is amazing offer. Plus you are moving from L5 to L6, this rarely happens with Google so for you this offer is no brained, just take it and don’t over think
Without level this is impossible to answer
RSU vest over 4 or 3 years? What’s the cliff?
3 years
I’m pretty sure all Google rsu vest over four years, with the initial grant being front loaded
1) Comp may have come down in the last year, but my L6 offer was similar salary and ~$1.1M RSU in a medium COL area. There may be room to push. 2) Be careful comparing Google to Meta offers. The front-loaded stock vesting, no first-year refresher, smaller yearly refreshers, and slower career advancement means that you will almost certainly hit a cliff in 2 years and comp will slowly decline until several years after a promo (assuming flat stock price). 3) I personal know a half-dozen Meta L6 who got Google L7 offers. If you are L6 at Meta today, I would push for a level bump to make this worthwhile.
1.1 M RSU for PM’s ? For PM in the last 6 -8 months I know few people who joined, the max was about 875k. It’s no more 2021 :).. I think everyone has to come in terms of current market. Btw they changed the policy, first year you do get refresher now.
currently, l5 Meta, TC - 302k
What’s your yoe? I am not even getting a single interview call with 5 yoe PM and 3 years of eng experience. Congratulations on this amazing offer! 🎉
And how did you get recruiter to loop you for higher level? I know meta level is vague, but when I interviewed with meta they really anchored my level with my yoe
Everything over 100k is too much for a pm job that will be soon replaced by ai. If you are irreplaceable is too little.
Firstly don’t bother if another human gets paid well.. we are all fighting the same corporates. Secondly come out of this myth and start seeing the larger picture. I’m swe turned PM, if at all AI disrupts a role, it could be a lot of Eng role. 1. Eng gets paid way more. When investors looks into the spreadsheet, they ain’t look at descriptions but numbers 2. At this point in time, AI spits better code than idea. I could spin up something in few days why would have taken weeks if not AI. So I’m more worried about many swe and how many are so blinded in blind. All of us or any role could get affected so rather than having so much hatred, have good intent and that would be way better.
While most PMs annoy the shit out of me, Eng doesn’t pay “way” more than pm roles at most places but it should to compensate for the mental torture and emotional Anguish of having to work with arrogant patronizing weak ass leetcode engineers who don’t understand shit, have zero intuition about the value of any cross functional role, and think they’re god
Can I pm you for prep advice?
Seems good, assuming Bay Area? L6?
What’s your current offer? How much decrease?
you mean current Meta comp?
