Has anyone interviewed for the Privacy Program Manager role at Google? I've asked my recruiter for interview prep and the materials she sent over were pretty vague (i.e. use STAR for 6ish scenarios), but the phone screen is considered "technical". It's not a TPM role, it's PgM only, so this surprised me. Apparently, "technical" means it will include any of the following: privacy by design, data loss prevention (DLP), anonymization/personally identifiable information (PII), user data protection, or privacy policy. I don't come from a strict privacy background (recruiter knows this), so not sure how to prep for the above topics. Please let me know if anyone can help! Would share comp. but recruiter says it all depends on their level assessment. Currently in a PgM role at Meta Seattle with 170K TC. #google #programmanager #interview
Do you have privacy certificates, like CIPP? I’d expect questions that it covers. How’s your experience being PPM at meta, btw?
Nope, no related certificates. I actually have no direct privacy experience, my past is in Trust and Safety program management. They're definitely some parallels with privacy but it's not quite the same. My recruiter says a Trust background is helpful, but I don't have much exposure to the topics above. Meta is great for the most part. It's absolute chaos and I think your experience depends a lot on manager/team.
So wlb sucks as a PPM? Been thinking of switching
I helped develop a privacy program. Look at CCPA and CPRA also if you will be covering the US.
What’s your current level ic3 or Ic4 or ic5? Just curious with that TC
IC4!
One of the courses that I found useful was privacy program on LinkedIn learning by Nishant bhajaria .. you can bookmark key concepts of videos and visit it later on previous day of your calls
I’m going for a similar role OP can you provide me some tips on what kind off questions did you encounter?
I’m a PM and work very heavily with privacy. Recommend reading the GDPR for EU as a primer to all those topics you mentioned. It’s thick but comprehensive. All the best!
Thanks so much!
