Question for Google Recruiters: To all the candidates whose interviews are complete and are in various stages of HC/Team match, and have received a call from their recruiter that said we are in a hiring freeze (not a rejection call/email), does that mean Google is interested in proceeding with those people but the recruiter does not know whether they will have head count when the freeze lifts? #google #tech
Who knows.
No one knows anything until next week
Fair point, except Google earnings didnt miss by much yesterday (ads especially, given the headwinds anticipated), and most of it was priced in when google dropped with SNAP results, the stock is actually up today lol!
They won’t know what roles are available till August 8. Until then you’ll have to wait
Heard the date was Aug 3, do you have a source for Aug 8?
My recruiter
I am literally getting interview requests one after another and so are my peers. Dont think there is any freeze. Be patient. Doesn't hurt to have a backup as well.
Recruiters can still schedule interviews but if in a few weeks the job becomes deprioritised they will need to cancel everyone in process
I can tell You that what is happening now is a prioritisation exercise which will complete in a few weeks . This will decide which of the current open positions will stay open and which will be closed . Because we don’t know which positions will be open there is a pause until the prioritisation is complete . Once the decision has been made The recruiters will be able to continue as usual as long as the position they are recruiting for is still open . If in the unfortunate event the position they are working on closes they will then call the candidates in process and let them know the bad news .
Thank you, this def helps.
Is there a concrete date on when the prioritisation will complete? 2 week from th pause brings us to Aug 3.
The stock price didn’t crash post the results yesterday… so we might not go super stingy with hiring
I have heard recruiters say aug. 1,3,8 is when they may no more. Idk if anyone knows.
Does anyone know if a role is no longer posted does that mean it’s been eliminated?
I am also wondering this as I have noticed my role being taken down. That alone doesn't necessarily mean anything bad though
Yes. I have reached out to recruiter and not getting a response so not sure what to think.
move on apply somewhere else also
Are you a google recruiter? Want to understand what the messaging actually means. Applying somewhere else is common sense, dont need to start a thread on that :)
