I'll be joining G soon and I was curious about the annual rewards. I know that G does both performance bonus and refreshers. I know target bonus is at 15%. How's much are refreshers for L4? Does anybody know the range/vesting schedule? What should I expect? TC: 200k Yoe: 3
The new refreshers this year for L4 meets all will be 90-100k assuming last year's numbers
That seems really low if that vests over 4 years. What was this years L6 refresher?
This is the industry average for L4. FB is also around the same ballpark.
You should join in December
Why December? And I don’t think I can 🙁 Team wanted me this month, but I alas delayed it till next month
You don’t get refresher for the time you worked the year you join.
Target this year was ~70k. Due to perf changes next year it's supposed to be 25% higher, so maybe ~88k.
My L4 refresh last comp cycle was $95K with EE and SEE perf ratings. I would expect the "normal" range to be $85K - $100K next compensation cycle. These vest at 25% per year over 4 years. Others mentioned, but new hires don't get refreshers. That is "supposed" to be baked into your new hire grant. If you have competing offers, Google *will* negotiate, usually pretty hard. If Google gives you an offer, they're serious about it. TC: $400K (now L5) YoE: <4
Wish I knew this during my negotiations. I was expecting refreshers in the 2nd year.
Hey, how did you get to L5 in < 4 YOE? That is crazy amazing!
I’ve heard that google refreshers vest over 2 years for SWEs? Existing google employee told me. Is it true or they miscommunicated? I’m seeing 4 year vesting for refreshers. Did anything change recently?
If someone joins in April 2022, they will be eligible for refreshers only in December 2023 right? If the answer to that is yes, then will Google prorate the refreshers for 18 months rather than 12 months?
Yes, that’s correct. No, there is no proration. It’s performance based though, so someone who joined on 4/22 might have a better chance to demonstrate impact than someone who joined on 12/22.

New hire grants are now front loaded I believe, subsequent grants vest over four years. If you perform well at least 1x your cash comp (salary + bonus) in refreshers.
L4 are not getting $160k in stock refreshers. That's solid L5 territory
Damn that’s a lot. Salary + 15%bonus ~= 225k. That’s over 4 years then?
