I am hoping anyone can share some information on Google relocation benefits and it’s tax implications before I talk to their specialist. I owe a home and relocating with the family.
Mine was not grossed up and I just had 10.5k added to my first paycheck in a separate deposit with my signing bonus
On that, tax as usual is it?
Pretty sure. I ended taking home around 70% of the signing + relo, in Seattle with no income tax
You pay taxes on signing bonus- this is not tax grossed. Relocation is usually grossed up. What can explain the low payment would be that you may have joined near financial year end , which made Google believe you fall in lower bracket of taxes and hence the least gross up. Happens as Google tax assumes you have no prior earnings for the year until proven to them.
You will get some points and flexibility to choose whatever services you like. No negotiations this point onwards..
If its a forced move (initiated by your manager or above) you get 22k on cash out or a bunch of points to choose from.. You can choose housing, business class flight etc.
