I'm in the offer negotiation phase for SWE L4 at Google. I have ~8 months left on my OPT and may not be able to apply for H1B next year The entire process took quite long and my recruiter said it's fine and it looked like a generic ok response from the immigration team. Has anyone been in a similar situation and did google allow joining and relocating to a different country later on
What was your major? Certain STEM degrees qualify for STEM OPT extensions as long as it's for certain types of companies (google should be fine, I'm blanking on the code they require). Reach out to your DSO and ask if your opt is eligible for stem extension.
Computer Science, I'm actually in my STEM OPT
Did you ask the immigration team about it? My situation is somewhat similar but I’m debating if I should bring it up after joining for a couple of months if needed
I did mention to the recruiter about when my EAD ends, the recruiter reached out to the immigration and they just said I should be good to onboard So I think its better to just mention once you reach the offer stage
Yeah I got an offer and signed today. I’m thinking of just mentioning possibility of L-1 after joining. Did you talk about relocation/l-1 yet?
