Hey folks, Just got to know from recruiter that I didn’t make it. Am surprised that coding interview results were no hire. The interviewers were happy with the code I provided. I even answered follow ups. The questions were not something I have seen and derived the solution One of the coding interviewers had enough time to reminisce about college days since we were alums from same college. What went wrong ? The recruiter was like now we don’t even have any E5 roles open hardly any. Could that be the reason that they are bluffing ? OR Could the recruiters mixup the feedback ? Has it happened to somebody Googlers who interview please respond. Super disappointed :(
Sorry folks we have been trained to be extra nice and make the candidate feel at home when they are not doing well
Sometimes this makes the candidate feel like they have nailed the interview
Yeah understandable and I've interviewed so much that I can tell whether the interviewer is just trying to make me feel at home or genuinely impressed. But I had one google interviewer who just didn't give a shit and didn't respond to my clarifying questions/giving me shit look the whole time. He was even late for about ten minutes....
Weigh what you explained above, really sad for you. Better luck next time.
Could be a million things in and out of your control. Not sure if you can do anything, except carry forward. :(
Why move from meta to G?
Don’t think too much about it. Hiring market kinda whack
I had the same experience
Could be a bad internal reference
Us interviewers are supposed to make you feel like you had a good time on the interviews regardless of how you did - we want to make it as pleasant as possible.
So that se are clueless and dont get a chance to correct our mistakes ? 🙆
@GsvF84 but coding is like a math question. Told about possible solutions and got a thumbs up before coding it up. Would you give a thumbs up on the algo even if you are not satisfied ? Or May be I took 10 min to come up with a solution than 5 min ? Can that cause rejects ? Assuming the solution was optimal
YOE?

Seems likely the recruiter isn’t lying in this case.
