Curious what your salary progression has looked like at Google and if you all have been able to avoid the cliff with promos and pay raises
if you are junior eng and get promoted every 2 years then the salary progression is pretty good
Averaging about +100k/yr increase granted. Not entirely linear, but not too far off. Vested is all over the place due to stock price.
Is that for stock refreshers? I’m assuming that’s for L5 in a HcOL?
TC, not just refresh. HCOL.
350 - 400 - 450 - 500 - 650 year 5
Dang do you mind breaking that down? Like the progression of your base and refreshers? You almost doubled your salary and completely avoided the cliff
Good timing with initial grant refresher and promo. It's hard work combined with lots of luck
How is there even a cliff anymore if the vesting is 33/33/22/12?
Grad shifted comp cycle (now happens once a year) and you dont get refresher 1st yr unless you get a high rating. Depending on when you get promo you will wait 6 months to get refresher which is also prorated between L and L+1
TC dropped by 250K because of cliff
Dang that’s huge. Refreshers didn’t help? What was the breakdown?
Thanks. Well, first of all, because I started mid-year, at this moment — I am only receiving stock from three refreshers, not four. I haven’t been promoted, but have been stuck at L6 since the start. To put this in perspective, my last month (with my initial grant included) was 245 shares (net shares, to my brokerage account). After the cliff, I am down to 76 shares. Based on GOOG close price on Friday, I went from $32,587 net after taxes to my account down to $10,108. That’s a 69% drop.
