"Most employees will spend roughly three days in the office and two days working where they choose, John Casey, vice president of global benefits at Google, wrote to employees." https://www.wsj.com/articles/google-sets-its-return-to-office-plans-for-april-4-11646249204?mod=e2tw
Sucks. I was loving it not having to see my manager everyday, not having to commute, sitting in my pyjamas while sipping tea, doing laundry during lunch, lying down for a quick nap between meetings, turning off my video so I don't have to say "wow your dog is so cute", not rushing to look for meeting rooms, waking up at 9am, working from my couch occasionally, going for a walk in the evening while still having energy left, not taking a shower everyday, have time to do yoga in the morning, talking to my parents while making a presentation, having lunch with my partner, and not having to go to happy hours or cuisines I don't like. I will miss these days 🥲
You can ask full remote.
Same. 😭 @Wespa 25% cut doesn't seem worth it especially when I am getting WA salary
We’ll just coast in the office instead of home. Plus, free food.🍹
Commuting is not fun
Meal stipend > Free meals at office
I have full time remote SDE roles in the u.s. DM me if you’re interested.
It seems you are low on your PIP quota
I would rather be in office at Albertsons than remote at Amazon
Fcuk Google join meta
No thanks
Don't, we are doing the same BS of RTO 🙄
Main thing is that once half of your team is back in office, even if your manager allows you to be remote, no guess for who will be the last to get promoted?
Promotion is a shitshow there already, so nothing is lost
Exactly! Career growth is bound to take a hit if manager supports rto. And +1 to promotion being a shit show. I know people who got SEE - really did well on their projects, led cross functional and external initiatives that brought in additional revenue to Google of the order of a few millions, drove innovation culture etc, yet was turned down promotion.
Does anyone know if this includes Seattle offices? I think this is an awful idea given we are not out of the pandemic
Microsoft is open already.
Can confirm cause I work from Seattle.
I think I'd rather have pip quotas then rto
Pretty soon it will be both
Amzn has lots of fully remote with no plans to go back anytime soon
I have fully remote SDE roles in the USA. DM me if interested.
Any SDM roles? I can come to office in Austin. Joining as a TPM in a few weeks.
On a serious note, do you pip?
