Google TC
Passed the HC for L3. Downleveled from L4. YOE - 3 yrs. Location - Mountain View. Recruiter wants to know my expectations for TC. Need your input on what should I ask considering I am moving from east coast to west coast and there will considerable increase in cost of living. Does google offer a signing/relocation bonus?
https://www.levels.fyi has relatively accurate informations. Yes there are sign-on bonus and relocation package, but since these are “one-off” benefit don’t include this early in the negotiation: focus first on base and RSUs.
Why do people treat a signing bonus different than RSU? RSU is just a signing bonus paid over 4 years.
Not anywhere near 300K - this would be high L4. New grads without competing offers are getting 120/25/15 L3.
25k a year? That’s a lot lower than I got as a new grad without competing offers in 2018.
For a downleveled L4 to L3 I've seen many 250k TC + 50k signing offers. Those people had competing offers from other good companies(FB amzn Uber Airbnb snap etc) and worked at one as well. If you don't have competing offers, youll get standard L3 offer (115k base 120k RSU 15k signing).
TC expectation : 300K.
Seems high for L3...
