I have been approached by a recruiter for a TPM manager role at Google. I am Head of Engg at a startup. The project sounds interesting but I don't know how much leverage TPMs have in defining architectures and influencing decisions at Google. Is it all just tracking projects? Can TPMs transition to EM roles? How easy (or difficult) is it? Thanks!
I am not sure if it's common though. A friend (EM at G) was surprised that Amazon has a transition process from TPM to EM.
