At companies like Google, how does the salary compare between TVCs and FTEs? Do TVCs make more hourly than FTEs do to make up for the lack of other benefits (aka health coverage, 401k, etc)?
Most TVCs I know are in support roles, so definitely don't make comparable amounts. My understanding is that their compensation is still favorable to market rate for similar positions in the same area. Does anybody know TVCs in technical roles? That's the only real comparison here that would seem relevant to anything.
Tvc’s make more hourly. But they dont get benefits like bonus & 401k, rsu’s Over tc would be much higher for fte
TVC pay is determined by the vendors they get contracted from. Due to heavy competition from the vendor companies, the price per hour goes down. That indirectly causes the vendor pay to go down. So thats one of the reasons why vendors get so low. As compared to other benefits, health etc has IRS restrictions and hence companies only pay for FTEs. The vendor companies are supposed to do the same for vendors but many a times they do a good job at that. Other benefits like free food, gym etc vendors and FTE have almost the same
I was a TVC at Google, Sr Launch Manager, I was paid 84.79/ hr with benefits through an agency with overtime. If that helps with perspective.
Testing Tvcs are usually paid around 35$ per hour
I'm a TVC program manager and am getting paid $73/hr.
I know a handful of TVCs in PSO that top my $190/hr. Pretty sure FTE conversion (to SCE or CE) would be a net loss.
Whats their role?
The titles vary but the ones I know in this caliber are essentially consultant partner engineers in Professional Services.
I make $75 an hour in Texas and soon on track to make $85 as a TVC and I am currently on an Architect role
Nope. TVC are worse than 2nd class citizens. They get them for the cheapest rate possible
I mean they try to get everyone for the cheapest rate possible. That's capitalism. The market rate for FTEs is just higher.
Thats true for most of the companies. Isnt it?
