I passed the HC review for L4 at Google and am now on to the team matching phase. However, due to “business priorities” and my recruiter supporting primarily roles at YouTube, I’m only getting matched with YouTube teams. I wanted to work on Google Cloud, especially since I’m currently located in the greater Seattle area (most of the YouTube teams seem to be remote or in Mountain View), and coming from a storage team at another FANG company (I think Google Cloud would be a better fit considering my past experience). The recruiter said she could start looking at teams in other customer groups after we’ve exhausted all the YouTube teams. Should I just wait out the YouTube teams since I know I want to work on Google Cloud? I feel somewhat inclined to just take one of the YouTube teams since an offer isn’t guaranteed until team matching is complete In case it’s relevant: Current job: L3 equivalent level $190K TC 1.5 YOE
Most people would kill to be in your position. GCP roles are dime a dozen. YouTube is probably the best PA to be at in Google.
Learning opportunities are way better at GCP, many orgs have fast paced culture there, which might be well suited for OP.
Yeah follow the recruiters lead, but don't settle for a bad team
Did you do a domain interview for GCP? It’s a requirement to be considered for roles on that team
Appreciate the heads up. I have not had one
TC?
Won’t know until team matching is complete
I never got any team matches with GCP storage despite a friend talking to an HM on my behalf. Might be they're pretty well staffed ATM.
I’m currently in team matching, been here for quite a while. Matched with a team, but they ended up going with an internal hire. If anyone has open L3 remote roles, let me know!
It took me 8 weeks to get a match at L5. It was torture. How long has it been for you?
Technically over a year haha, I was picked back up and allowed to team match without interviewing again. There were almost no positions available at my desired locations during peak Covid.
