Google Team Match Time
I recently appeared for L4 Google on-site, and was HC approved without any team match process (It's been more than a week now). No team match has been scheduled yet though. I have read many team-match horror stories here on Blind so I have a rather bleak view of the whole team-match process. But I suspect it can't always be bad (Plus sampling and confirmation bias). So I've created a poll to gather some stats around how much time does it usually take for a team match to conclude (with or without a match)? Google team matching is the worst thing ever.
The reason TM is bad right now is because there aren’t many teams hiring. So you’ve got a large pool of really talented folks you’re competing against. I heard HM say for every role they have you can find 3-4 nearly perfect candidates. Until more roles open up, not much will change.
Do you think more roles will open in Jan/Feb?
No one knows but only critical roles are targeted right now. My suspicion is next summer we’ll see more.
Is it’s for India or Poland then you should be fine. Otherwise don’t keep your hopes high

I don’t think it is fine for Poland rn. I am stuck in TM since the beginning of September. Should be better from January I guess
TM took me 2 days but Im in Cloud.

For me it took 2-3 weeks but also depends on recruiter i think
Can you share the product team you matched with? Was it GCP? Or was it some non-GCP team?
It was gcp and non gcp both, i got matched with 3 teams,
I am stuck for a year, also L4 SWE. But I want only NYC or Zurich

I interviewed for Google India, and I am also awaiting TM call for almost a month now (cleared HC already). I have given up on Google tbh. If I had known the process is going to be this cumbersome and exasperating, I wouldn't have spent 3-4 months on interview prep, and would have worked toward promo at my current organisation. 😒
