Google Team Match in wrong state
i applied for a Google role on Linkedin and the location said NYC. I recently completed my onsite in the New York office and it went well. I have entered the team match phase but so far the two teams that have contacted me are based in Mountain View. Has this happened to anyone before? What can I do to stay on the east coast and get this role?
Yes the recruiter told me to be patient and wait but there is not guarantee that any NYC teams reach out. I feel like I’ve been lied to. This process took a lot of my time and I would really like to get out of the bay.
How have you been lied to? Teams in the east coast either have capacity and are in interested in you or they don't / aren't.
Well normally if you apply to a job in one state that is the job you will get. This is completely different from any other company. It feels deceptive. I said “feel” for a reason just expressing frustration that I pulled off this fest but it might not work out
Which level are you?? My recruiter flat out said for L3/L4 its tough to get NYC

This is why I don’t like general hires. I assume they have headcount in NYC?
Don’t take it the wrong way. They really don’t have headcount in NYC. Both me and my friend have been told.
Ya I found this out after the fact. I feel like they shouldnt be posting the role in that case. All my effort feels wasted now
