I am in the team matching stage with Google for L3/new grad position. I am little bit concern that I am working at a different company (not Blizzard), and Google recruiter doesn’t know about this. I am planning to resign from the current company when I receive the offer from Google. But until then, I am not planning to resign since I may not find a team. I’m worrying about a few things: 1. Am I going to pass the background check if I am working at the different company now that Google recruiter is not aware of? 2. When should I resign from the current company? After getting an offer from Google? 3. I am in OPT now, is my OPT status will be fine after resigning from current company to Google? If so what is the length of the unemployment term? 4. Should I keep this information hidden from the recruiter unless recruiter ask me? Or should I hide it even recruiter ask me? I know I am in quite an unique situation, but if anyone have input on this, I would like to know! Thank you 🙏 TC: 70k YOE: 2 months just got out of job training #opt
1. Background check will still clear because all they do is verify the information you have provided + other required checks. 2. I would suggest that you resign only when you know you are starting at Google. 3. You have 90 days of unemployment so if there is a gap between you resigning from your current company and starting Google, you will just start using your 90 days. Nothing else happens unless you hit 0 days of unemployment and that’s when you have to dip out. 4. Recruiter will know about your employment anyways if they have a read at the report (which they do). If they ask you, you should definitely not deny it — that would be bad. Good luck regardless
Wow thank you for your detail answer! Now I don’t have to worry about planning with uncertainty!
In a VERY similar boat. You're good lol, just put the position on background check: A. Recruiter manages a bunch of candidates, won't look over you with an insane amount of scrutiny. B. Google takes so long that a bunch of people end up taking other offers while waiting them to get off their asses and respond. C. You're leaving to join them. You are showing a bunch of dedication. It would be dumb to do anything negative to candidates like that. Just don't lie - everything else will fall into place! :)
Op, don't worry too much. The background check Hireright company doesn't interact much with Google. You should be fine
I feel like this happens a lot with Google bc it takes them so many months for TM that often times people sign other offers. Idk what happens but good luck OP
Yeah. It seems like TM would take much longer than HC 🥲
