Google UX Certification worth it?

Wondering if anyone has taken a look at the Google UX Design certificate and thinks it could move the needle at all on resume screenings or landing round 1 interviews (especially at Google). Has anyone taken the course? If so, how long did it take to complete? It says it’s takes ~6 months to complete but seems to be geared towards entry level designers. Wondering if it’d be worth doing a speed recap on UX foundation just for the badge.

I'm interested in this as well but the cert is so new I'm not sure many have tried it.

Given that it is 40 dollars a month I'd say sign up and see if the material offers you any value.

In doing this now. It is not for experienced designers...at all. The module on Design Sprints was useful if you haven’t been exposed to that before, but otherwise it’s super basic. I’m not sure what their goal is with this other than to oversaturate the market? Everyone thinks they can be a designer... The modules are all self-guided and I’m in Week 4 and there’s still no actual design being taught. It’s more like a “career overview” than anything else.

I don't think most short-term certifications are not that useful.. along with boot camps on resumes (good for actual knowledge/refresher, just not too much on paper for potential employers). There's no way anybody can understand how a job function works in a couple of days to a couple of months. It takes years of working on-site with people in a professional setting, dealing with problems. Not only with the actual product, but also with people and communicating your ideas and working through things. I don't think any certification that only takes a couple of days to a couple of months means much (unless it was uber-competitive and well known), just your actual job history (mostly this) and maybe schooling (Like if you went to Harvard, it's obviously going to stand out amongst other candidates although it won't land you the job).

Better shut the fuck up than giving dull and dumb advice like this. Without the certifications, bootcamps, etc.. how the hell would people gain knowledge to prepare for jobs? I can’t fucking stand stupid comments like this

I'm just saying what made sense to me and you can do whatever you wish (like not listening to an advice from a stranger online lmfao) nobody gives a fuck about ur cert. your portfolio tells the entire story. nobody gives a fuck that you went to some fancy ass school if your portfolio doesn't deliver. your lil boot camp cert that u got in 3 months definitely do not fucking matter if your portfolio sucks. suck it up buttercup and work on that portfolio. never have I interviewed a designer and fucking cared where they went to school or what cert they had.

I'm an experienced designer in the industry. Yet, I took the certification to check it out. It is useful and comprehensive if you have clear goals. I am doing a speed recap and plan to complete it within a month at most. I'd encourage you to go for it. Just because it's made affordable, it doesn't mean it's cheap in quality! I felt it was well-designed and have also encouraged other designers on our team to try it out.
