I am interviewing for the Google TPM role, Data Center Infrastructure. For the technical and design questions, will they be data center specific? Any coding? Any advice and tips would be very much appreciated. Thanks. YOE 14 TC Base 145K. Bonus 11K #google #interview #engineer #it #tech #pm #productmanager
tc or gtfo
I am doing the virtual interview next week. No word on TC yet.
I think they want your current TC at Altice or where you are currently working.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any advice - but, this is awesome!! Congratulations and good luck!
I'm so sick of reading "Virtual On-Site Meeting" it logically makes no sense. I get what they're trying to say but its dumb.
Do you have a better alternative or you just like whining
It should be called "Virtual Level __ Meeting" or "Virtual Level __ Interview" the level would refer to how far you are in the interview process. I also like to whine.
Very interested to know how your interview goes. I applied for this position a while back and made it through two phone interviews.
Try to find out who is interviewing you. If it's a generic team then it won't be data center specific. You should ask the hr if there will.be coding. I have a feeling one of the four will be coding, one system design and other two project management related
Spoke to recruiter this evening. It is going to be Program Management heavy. Leadership questions. Behavioral questions. Cognitive thinking. No coding.
There you go. You have your work cut out for you. Good luck and let us know how it went
Just checked Glassdoor Just look for “technical program manager “ and run thru those that closely related to data center or infrastructure. It’ll be your best bet Might also be a good idea to look into what they ask other data center and infra folk like data center techs and co Might as well go all out on everything related to prepare Do keep the community posted
Thank you. I will update end of next week.
Good luck !
No coding required for tpm dc infra role. You will be gauged however on your technical chops for the specific area you are trying for. If your recruiter hasn't told you please push them to clarify what you will be evaluated on technically. Could be networking, power/space, fiber, etc. Could also be data science or more generally analytical. As a tpm you are expected to be equivalent to an engineer in the domain at a level lower. Source: I've done dozens of tpm interviews for ti and cloud. I always look for the "T."
Thank you so much for the tip. I truly appreciate it.
This. I'm also an interviewer for this role. No coding but expect to have a tough technical interview on infrastructure. The person interviewing you will be a design sme
This is amazing news. Hope you crack it.
Me too! Except in Research and 5 interviews. Good luck! I’ve had lots of talks with other TPgMs and all confirmed no coding. I would reach out to any of your colleagues who might connect you to a TPM in that org. You should def be comfortable with a general sys design question like “build Google Drive”. Check out Alex Xu’s book “system design interview”.
Thank you. I just picked up on kindle the book you recommended. Much appreciated. 🙏🏾
