Google Vs Amazon
Alexa team in Seattle just offered me an SDE2 position with 160k base. 105k sign on over two years and 96 shares. Is this a good? I also have a potential offer with Google in mountain view - but they'd like me to inform then what my expectations are first. Level should be a l4 What would be a good offer to compete with Amazon? Update: I offered Google the Amazon numbers, and they just got back. 145/280/20. The recruiter did mention that because my Amazon offer is "quite high" I wouldn't be getting increments in the following year as salaries/cash flow are capped. Seems like a valid point, and I'm also factoring in I could maybe move to Kirkland in a few years to offset cost of living? Also, this was the final offer apparently.
Keep in mind Amazon uses stock value at time of vesting for total comp calculation. You will not likely see refreshers for salary in years 1-4 due to how well the stocks are doing. Looks like your TCT is just under 220K for Amazon.

Close to 5. 2 years outside the states and close to 3 within.
2 extra things you might want to consider once you get the Google offer with compensation. 1) WA doesn't have Income Tax which translates into a larger take home amount. 2) Seattle is not cheap but is definitely cheaper than the Bay area, especially rent.
160k base for SDEII. I heard max salary for amzn was around $165 so I'm curious as that seems super high..

The Google recruiter got back with the same comment. He said I may not get year on year increments at Amazon.

Yes. Amazon seems to have a standard 5/15/40/40 vesting structure.
