Hi All, I just received an interview request from this company called “X, the moonshot factory” and I’ve been trying to find as much information as I can about them. Their parent organization is google. Questions 1. How’s the work culture and projects there? The specific project for which I got request is “Everyday robot”. 2. What does the future scope for this company look like? 3. Is the pay similar to google standards? Any other information that would help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Current TC: 175K #Tech #XMoonshotfactory
I had interviewed there once for their Waymo project particularly; analyst role. Very smart people, creative, interviews are tough but it’s a exciting place to learn.
This is so exciting! I'm excited for you! Like interviewing for some secret JPL branch or something. Keep us updated!
Sure will do
1. Projects are cool. Strong emphasis on culture. I feel people here are genuinely nice, smart, incredibly passionate about their work, yet humble. ‘Everyday robot’ is an awesome project. Cutting edge robotics. 2. Future scope of X? If an idea could fit our definition of a moonshot, nothing is off limit. 3. Generally similar (we are part of Alphabet at the end of the day), but with larger spreads. Good luck!
Hey! Would you be open to speaking a bit more about x ? I am super eager to get into the Mineral project ( I have a background in agtech) Thanks!
Hi! May I grab a internship referral?
Update?
🍿
I also have an interview with them coming up. Would love to knw the process and how to go about preparing myself.
Which role?
OP did you interview for a HW role? EE by any chance?
Pay would be similar. But with any moonshot project it is understood that it is an experimental project and can always get restructured. I'm sure people would be working really hard just like a startup to get it launched
Thanks for that reply. I’ve been working at a startup for 3 years now so I know how that feels. Any idea about how the job security there if the project fails? I’m on Visa right now (H1B) and so job security is relatively high priority for me.
I think that's a good question to ask the HM. But probably what happens is the people in the project get repurposed for some other project. Google never fires anyone for canned projects (I'm on H1B myself so I know)
