Hows the work culture and environment? Had my informal interviews and liked the tour- feels welcome but then the quiet environment and silence was a disappointment. Fb is quite lively especially Classic campus.
I'm at X. The work culture is actually great. Huge opportunity to make an impact on the project because the size of the teams is smaller than sufficient. So basically, you can work on whichever part of the project you want if you can help the project. The projects are audacious and sometimes sound like science fiction but projects have to prove a radical solution exists before they can become a part of X. I love working at X. No complaints.
How do I get in? Do you only take rockstar phd's and Harvard MBA 's?
Beg to differ. Some parts are great. Some miserable. Vet the team you join as thoroughly as they vet you.
They hire a lot of PhDs (me too) but not all are PhDs. They also hire more experienced folks than other companies. They get the very best of software and business folks from regular Google because many many Googlers want to join X. They hire a lot of hardware engineers too. I'm one. If you want to get in, find someone you know who works there and send your resume to them along with interested jobs.
Waymo- they are testing a self driving semi. I think that's pretty rad. 🤷
Can you please not leak...!
It's public. 😐
Lol, if you don't like a quiet environment definitely stay at FB. I highly recommend working at building 20, it'll be heaven for you. To me it was hell.

Nothing useful has come out of Google X... Unless you want to chill, I wouldn't go there
How about Google Brain, Waymo, Loon? Maybe someone has been living under a rock...
Loon is the only one that truly started at X. I used to work at Google so I know but you can look up the histories of the other two yourself. A lot of the info is online
