Google asked me to do freelance work! Rate?
I was asked by Google to do some freelance work. The job is to design, code, and animate a set of semi complex HTML5 banner. I have +10 years experience doing this type of work but I have never freelanced before. I do think that I deliver some of the highest quality work in the industry (digital advertising). What hourly rate should I suggest? I have no clue!
A good rule of thumb is to charge 1.3x your current FTE salary broken down to hourly wage. This will cover the increase in taxes you'll pay.
But you're consuming even more of that precious free time so there should be a premium. Charge 1.5x
It should be more than 1.3x. You use your own equipment, software licenses, etc.
For static and dynamic banners? I think I got the same request...
No. Interactive banners. Just a few highly tailored creatives.
