I interviewed with Google and my recruiter says that Google would eventually move forward to HC phase. But he is damn adamant about knowing my comp expectations before that. I have postponed this kind of talk one way or another, but I don't know how to tell him that I don't want to give out my expectations unless HC process is done and level is determined. He isn't even telling me how my interview feedbacks were like. How can I give out my expectations without getting anything first from Google. Can he deny or screw my process if I flat out refuse to discuss comp related matters until HC approves?
This is separate from a hire/no-hire decision so you’re fine there.
Does the expectation really matter? From what I know, if you don't have a competing offer, they just give you a standard number based on your level, experience and interview performance.
HC has no dealings with comp or expectations, they simply just give a decision on whether to move forward

Any Indians Think Kashmir Should be Independent?
Tell him you expect what the market is willing to pay for somebody like you and that as a recruiter he is in a better position than you are to know how much that means? I've always wondered if saying that would work. Or ask them for way over your worth, leaving them to do the work to bring you back to a realistic level...
