I joined Google under a year ago, and while I love working here, I can already see this is only temporary. At least for right now. What have you all seen/done as the best and most profitable next career move after having the Goog stamp on the resume?
Nothing - everyone has the stamp now, don’t think it’s special. When I interviewed at meta I was grilled hard. Maybe smaller companies might like the stamp
That stamp is completely overrated and doesn’t carry the same weight it did 10 years ago
Yea I’ve been hearing that lately unfortunately. Any “stamps” you think carry any weight now?
I mean it helps with getting interviews, but you can get interviews after being at pretty much any company now. At the end of the day it’s up to you and your performance during the interview.
I am preparing so hard for this opportunity for an year now (after getting rejected from onsite once) I don’t understand why you want to leave in less than 1 year? Looking for response with your genuine reason and your reasoning behind thinking this. Thanks in advance.
First off, good luck! You got this man. But to answer your question, I was in the same boat as you. Grinding my ass of to get into the “exclusive Google”. Once you get here it honestly is great, but after a while it’s just another job, with a cool campus. I code here the same way I did at my last gig, but now I have scooters to move around my office and free lunch. I do love it, but while I’m young I want to go somewhere where I can have more impact, and make as much money as possible. Google just isn’t that right now
Go amazon for highest tc in market rn
Not necessarily. Anyone at the Staff level is kind of stuck in terms of Amazon. Staff is generally above SDE3 but below Principal, so unless you can push up to PE you're not going to get Staff level pay there. I can get 540k at Amazon as Senior, but that's a step down from the 600k expectation for Staff.
Stamps has been democratized by startups being able to pay thanks to inflated IPOs in the past.
