Google is the most hated company in Hacker news. Even worse than the hatred Amazon receives on Blind. Why the Google folks never defend themselves on HN? Also what is the insider feeling about Google reputation on Hacker news? #google
So a lot of yc folks write comments about working 5 hours a day at google and that’s surely a sign of not caring and all that. Maybe it’s true, maybe it’s not. But the folks at google wanted to be there, they like the stability, they like the culture, they like the scale and professional work. What startups don’t seem to understand is that the experiences are not compatible - the person who wants one would not thrive at the other. So I’m not sure why they feel the need to talk about working at faang, especially google. Anyway who cares.
Than you haven’t read any HN comments. There is nothing about work culture, it is all about how Google is killing internet, how hard it is to talk to a human for any issues with Google services, and the overuse of ML at Google.
Getting a human for google services is hard, thats a valid point. Google ks hardly killing the internet. Overuse of ML lol. Must be why Google is so superior at a lot of things.
Never been on hacker news... Sounds cringe
Google is where smart people go to rest and vest. The only 'innovation' they produce is more backdoors in Chrome for the ad unit to abuse for short term cash. GCP is literally a joke. During a sales pitch for one of their products the control panel broke or infinite loaded 3 times. Load up Gmail and nearly 50mb is downloaded. What does everyone do all day? Certainly nothing around privacy or performance.
Except for DeepMind, Brain team and some hardware optimization the rest is meh
That sounds very naive.
True, as any company there are very strong teams and engineers, but those are my favorite teams
