I am a first-year Indian OPT student at Google right now. I just applied for H1B (first time) and did not make it. From the looks of it, with a 25% chance that Google has seen this year (even lower for Bachelors like me), there is not much of a chance to get H1B in my remaining 2-3 attempts in expectation. I would say it's a 55-45 in the favor of H1B. Throughout college, I have interviewed for many companies (6-7 each year times 3 years) and only got ever passed Google's interview. I would say it was 90% luck. Needless to say, I am concerned about getting a good job anywhere if the visa does not work out. I understand 3 years is a lot to practice LC, but I have not seen the success rates I should be seeing with my existing practice. Therefore, I believe preserving my job is a top priority imo. I was wondering how difficult it is to transfer to another Google office, particularly to Canada, UK or another anglophone country. I understand that as an L3 (hopefully L4 in 3 years) I would not be a valued employee (in that I don't think Google would make many concessions), so are there any affirmative steps I can take to get a higher chance of getting transfer? If I change teams, I believe I will be missing out on a year's worth of refreshers, so can I work remotely from another country with the same team? Any advice? TC: 176k #visa

And also looking for a place to move to.
Canada is a good option. WAT will be happy to have you, especially if you're an L4+.
