Considering Google Capital is an major investor in Airbnb does that change anything about recruiting involving Airbnb? For example Google would obviously have access to Airbnb financials, such as compensation data. They would also know the engineering bar and scope pretty well due. Historically Google doesnt match private equity in offers and may not respect engineering levels of smaller companies, also often will lowball without compeiting offers. So im curious if right off the bat recruiters will use a different strategy when interviewing people from Airbnb? Would they fully match an offer from Airbnb?
Google probably would not be interested in poaching average Airbnb engineers who write hotel related business logic all day. Several boomerangs back to Google? Sure.
Some people might find it surprising, but the fact that a company is an investor means almost nothing for how either company operates. And being an investor does not get you the right to things like comp data.
VCs definitely 100% get to see the plan for compensation spending. Not hard to deduce compensation numbers when you know the budget. I was at series C start up before Amazon
True, but the VC arm is typically separate from recruiting, so it would only be broad knowledge not likely to impact individuals.
