Google recruiter is asking me to get written proof of a competing offer. I tried to get email confirmation but the competing company will only confirm numbers over the phone. Competing company says I can't get a written offer until I accept verbally. Any suggestions?
Accept verbally and then reject π TBH Recruiters are smart nowadays, they don't give numbers over email because they know you would take it to competitors. Also Google requires proof because they know people fake it sometimes.
Thanks! This would work although trying to find an alternative. Also this would close window for negotiations with competing company.
Also they know that nowadays people don't want to give written numbers because of this, so they might be banking on this.
Lol what use is written proof of an offer apart from being used as leverage to get better offers elsewhere. No wonder recruiter is telling you to pound the sand. If they know you're interviewing with Google they probably realize you won't accept the offer anyways
In that case they could make a max offer to increase the costs of Google in spite :p
You canβt ask the competing company to send you the offer letter so you can review it before accepting? Seems strange that they want you to accept a contract without being able to review details
Email them and tell them that due to an ear infection you have lost your hearing. You must see the offer to believe it
Lol good one
Make sure to say in both ears
Email the recruiter saying just want to make sure these are the numbers you have confirmed (list them) I think they should be okay responding yes to this.
If they want you bad enough they'll waive it according to blind posts
fake a screenshot to your email
Do u have any friend at the company just send an email to that friend and ask him to reply and than blackout the first name π
or HTML inspect element and edit π
I would go back to the other company and say you cannot accept until it's in writing. Tell them you need the terms, even via email. They don't want to initiate an HR process, but lots of people need a written offer before they will verbally accept. Alternatively, you can just verbally accept and get it in writing. Tell them you accept the terms verbally and will accept it in writing once you have the written offer.
Asking for proof of competing offer is not legal I think.
There is nothing illegal about it. But Unethical, yes.
Yes unethical. Wrong choice of word.
