Google recruiter reached out today. No hiring freeze anymore?
I'm a SDE mostly targeting L4. I didn't apply or anything. Just got reached out through email (guess from my past applications) So hiring freeze rumors are false? Or this might be some specific opening? I have just replied to them. Didn't talk over a call yet. TC 180k #google
by the time you get an offer it will be 2023, so mostly frozen stuff would already have melted away by then.

Freeze is still a thing. Recruiter seems to be jumping the gun thinking that L4 roles will still be available

I don’t understand. Why interview people if you can’t give them offers for the foreseeable future?
Cause it takes months to go through it
Recruiters can still have phone screen with candidates and schedule interviews . However bare in mind the position the recruiter will talk to you about might not be open anymore in 2-3 weeks . No one knows if it will be or not at this moment in time so take that into consideration .

Recruiters will try to fill the pipeline even if they cannot make an offer this week or next week
Becuase they are told to do so . Even if the role they are working on is deprioritised they are encouraged to advocate for their candidates and find other prioritised positions for them within the organisation .
