Hi All, Accepted Google offer. Will be joining in Oct 2022. I am assuming I won’t get any refreshers for FY22 that vest in FY23. So will I be eligible for refreshers for the FY23 in the review so they start vesting in FY24 ? Or will I be eligible for refreshers in FY24 so they start vesting in FY25 ? Please share your insights. Thanks Tc 250k 6yoe Edit: Google offer details L4 Location Bay Area MTV 175k base 15% cash bonus 25k sign on 350k rsu #engineering #software
You’ll get refreshers at end of 2023.

Seems a lil low for L4 swe at 6yoe, was the recruiter hard on negotiations?
My understanding is that you have to work a full fiscal year then you can get a stock grant. Not sure if the vesting schedule though.
OP: What was their initial offer and did you negotiate with higher competitive offers to get the offer you finally got? Also, remember if you haven't contributed to 401k, you can contribute the entire ~19k in the last few months and get ~9500 match from Google!
Are u saying Op could technically contribute 9.5k just in the last few months of the year and get the full matching benefits? I thought there's a per paycheck limit for contributions..
Based on what I have read, at google there is no such limit. You can backload, front load do whatever you want until you hit the ~19k individual contribution limit. Google will match 50% and OP can get 9.5k extra $$ by the end of year. Now this is assuming OP has not contributed to 401k this year with his current employer. ~19k is the max individual contribution regardless of number of employers.
You will get first round of refreshers in Mar 2024 which will start vesting from Apr 2024. This is due to new Perf timelines.
Ahahaha, so people who joined Jan 2022 will have to wait till Mar 2024? Does not sound impressive.
Thanks Vanderbilt. I spoke to recruiter today and they also mentioned that there are some changes to the vesting/review cycle. For fy23 it will be 80% in Jan and 20% in March And for fy24 it will be in March as you said.

How many books do you usually read in a year?
Forget about it, you won't write a single line of code in first 3 month anyways
Just curious, why not? Even for seniors? I would expect a learning curve of 2-4 weeks, but 3 months seems exaggerated. Thanks!
Not exaggerated
