What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Hi all, I get an offer from Google as a L3 SWE. They offer less than 10k as relocation fee(cash out option). I’m moving from east coast to west coast. Does this number make sense to you? I saw a few posts said their relocation package is around $20-30k.
I don't think you'd have too much leeway in relocation, it should have been predetermined. Maybe just reconfirm with the recruiter?
I confirm with the recruiter he/she said HR don’t handle relocation package I should reach out to relocation team. But isn’t the relocation team a third party company?
I believe it’s also based on level. So for a L4 you get like 24000 before tax if cashing out.
That’s a huge difference... I heard one of my friend get 35k before tax. He is also a L4. And he is moving from the middle part to west coast.
When was their relocation?

Is this 10k post tax ?
May be that’s cash option, and remaining is what you can directly bill to them( often a 3rd party company) I moved from East to West coast, and my company offered me around 10K cash and remaining I can bill to them for shifting house stuff, car, rentals etc ( that could be a max of 40K) Ask your HR rep.
Yeah I ask HR. There are only two options. I can either cash out or customize my relocation with the third party company. HR said he/she doesn’t handle relocation stuff so I should talk with the 3rd party company.
In my case the company itself gave my details to a moving company, and they contacted me on behalf of my employer. Didn’t have to pay a thing. Employer paid everything to the 3rd party company
