How to relocate out of Blue areas?
I know that Google has a hard limit set for number of visitors who are going to eat at the cafe per month but what about if I just want to show people around campus? I don't start with Google until a few weeks but was curious about that. I think the campuses are pretty cool to explore and would be cool to show friends and families around the campus.
No one cares. You can bring in a couple friends every week, take them to multiple cafes. But there is nothing to “show” around, it’s just a office building. They might find the campus interesting though.
Wow really? I thought I read that said you have to indicate if the guest will be visiting the cafe. That makes it pretty easy to track how many visitors. And I thought they only allow two visitors a month anyways
Security checks for visitor badges at our site. You definitely need to get them checked in
Technical 2 per month but it is not a hard restriction.
Isn’t all of that tracked though?
Yeah but I haven't heard of it being enforced. I have a family of 4, I can't just bring 2 visitors
no worry, Googlers bring their extended families to the free meals everyday. have at it
no way lol. thats definitely abusing policy
Nope. My friend, when he was a VP there, fired multiple people for doing that. Before you ask, yes, he's Indian and he fired people from every race. Most Googlers get paid quite well, and my friend felt humiliated when his subordinates did this.
It's a request, not a hard limit. They just want you to be respectful of your coworkers. There have been a couple of rare and exceptional occasions where I've had as many as 6 guests, and it wasn't a problem
I see. that is good to know. did you take those 6 guests to the google cafe?
Yes. We all ate lunch together
The real hard limit where security may stop you is no more than 10 people at once per Googler. Try to be Googley and average out to no more than ~2 people visiting the cafe per month. It’s also nice to bring visitors during low-cafe-usage times. Depends on office though. In general, if you’re going to a large campus right before cafe closing, you can get away with bringing a few more people
Do you know what hours are the least busy typically? I know it varies from different locations but what have you seen in your office?
Monday and Friday, especially if it’s not lunch. In terms of hours, most cafes get less busy ~30mins before closing (though this is situational)
Google does not have a hard limit set for visitors at cafes. The wording in the official policy doc is a suggestion or recommendation of like 2 per month. No care cares or checks.
Are we talking carload or busload? It's fine, especially if you do it evenings/weekends, though then you can't bring visitors inside any building at all.
lol I just have a few tech friends that want to see the campus. With only two visitors a month its doable. but just wondering if I can bring them if we arent going to the cafe.
Nothing in any google building is worth seeing as a visitor. They are office buildings, what are you possibly expecting to see?
