Google vs Uber L4 to L5 career progression
Got an offer from both. For G it's in an important GCP team and for U it's a new platform and data initiative that seem very interesting and has a lot of leadership backing. Both in/near Seattle. Any info on career progression from L4 to 5 in either companies is appreciated! Yoe: 5 Current TC: low
L4 to L5 is much faster at Uber.
This is a no brainer. Google. Not saying because that’s where I work but because Uber doesn’t give you same stability and stock growth like G and GCP has fast pace culture like Uber if you want to grow faster.
Yeah gcp seems to provide more growth opportunities than average G from what I can gather.
Not all teams and opportunities are only there if you can see it and capture it. It doesn’t get handed over to anyone on the plate. Once you join you will see what I mean. Also Uber is a dead company now anyways.
Come to Uber for easier promo to l5 then bounce for comp.
How long does promo from L4 to L5 usually take?
If you want to grow into L5 faster than Uber is a no brainier.
If you want stability and good stock price then google, if you want faster promo / more opportunity for impact then Uber
I am just less than 2 months in Uber and already seeing a teammate nominated for L4 to L5 within a year. Going by that I would say it is faster in Uber, as long as you impact and solve complex tech problems.
What was sign on bonus for Google please? I'm expecting an offer too.

Verbal offer on the Uber side is about 300 to 350 from recruiter. Still team matching at G.
