These days do people get Google without leetcode-ing or practicing in top coder etc?
I did not Leetcode. I had ten years of competitive programming contests experience though.
Hmm, great!
Haha that’s even better than leetcode!
What's wrong with leetcode?
It’s a poor analogue for the skills that you actually need day-to-day to build products. It’s like quizzing a pediatrician on heart surgery.
I did, not a competitive programmer. Did about 3-5 problems on leetcode, one week before my interviews. I got easy questions though, and I think I explained my thought process really well.
How long ago was that ?
October last year.
I practiced one problem before interview but it was two years ago. Solving the problem is only small part of the interview.
Fake news, if you get stuck it’s over.
Well its not sufficient but necessary :)
I read CTCI and reviewed a few chapters from CLRS, but nothing more. I don't think you need to obsess over leetcode.
Same here
I did a bunch before and it was a complete waste of time as none of the interview questions were remotely similar. (This was for T6 role, received offer)
My friend (physics major) got a job at Google just reading cracking the coding interview.
If you are kick-ass smart!!
