Hi, I have received a reject from amazon after a phone interview for bi engineer round. Honestly the interview went well. I have answered all sql, python questions correctly and the manager seemed very friendly and interested in my current work. I am not sure why i got a reject.. i keep getting calls but i am failing at interviews after 1-3 rounds. Is there any suggestion of how to prepare better and crack the interviews I have asked for feed back,. they didnt share any.. thanks

Sometimes it’s not that you’re not good enough, the competition is simply better. When I was interviewing several candidates for an open position, basically everybody who we talked to were qualified. However, there was only one spot, so we picked the best and the most suitable person. There’s definitely an element of luck in the process. You can be great, but if a rock star candidate with much better credentials happens to interview for the same job, then you’ll lose. Conversely you can be mediocre, but if the company has an urgent need for a warm body and the other candidates are worse, then you’ll get it.
Thanks for the reply. I was lil confused of why though.. but will try next time
Were you asked culture fit questions? If yes then that's where you might have missed
I was asked questions about around their leadership principles related to customer experience, time management and all
“About around” “bi engineer” “feed back”. “i” “.,” Here is your feedback sir. As a hiring manager if I see this pattern I won’t hire you. It will be great if you can communicate better.
Nice, you expect your direct reports to have 0 grammatical errors in an anonymous forum outside of work? That’s your criteria? Get off your high horse dipshit.
I'm not him but habits are habits. I'm not going to type like an idiot in a forum (not saying OP is, just an example) and then be Stephen Hawkins on any other form of communication.
They may have interviewed multiple candidates for the role and unfortunately they found someone they liked better. Don't let this get to you. Keep your chin up and move on to the next interview. Also, after every failed interview - do a thorough analysis of what may have gone wrong. Be your worst critic. Find the flaws and work on fixing them. Good luck to you!!
This may be obvious and I know that this is for BI but make sure that all of your answers are in STAR format, answer the question asked and every story that you tell needs to adhere to a leadership principal. Even on the phone screen. If a Hiring Manger has to dig to get answers to their questions that’s not a good sign.
What do you mean by failing after 1-3 rounds? You had multiple interviews with Amazon? What were these interviews about? How did you do on LP?
Hang in there man. It’s not you it’s them. Evaluate each interview you have and try to change certain things you do in each interviews. Sometimes when you have interviews back to back like that we fall into this repetitive state and it does not help.
Don’t encourage him to blame the interviewers for his outcomes. OP, it’s your fault, time to optimize. Keep applying, keep studying
What does "its not you it's them" mean? That's the stupidest take I've heard in my life. Evaluate your interview. Learn from it. Wether it was a good or a bad experience, use it.
