I have an onsite at grab next week. Anybody interviewed there? Role is backend engineering (4yoe). Seems like pretty short 3-4 hours. What do they ask?
Companies whose HQ is not in US are easier to get in usually. Grab is hot but should be easier than Uber. Otherwise, they cannot hire anyone. That is just the market dynamics. I see lots of no name companies start with high expectation then switch to offering great offer with easy interview after they learn the talents they want are all headed to G and FB (some to Amazon). I got a call from two companies who called me after several months- one with much better offer another one with an offer (previously I was rejected).
Truth. I know some hiring managers essentially stating the same. All new, recently funded startups start out with higher bar only to drastically reduce later because of market dynamics. FWIW, Grab is one of those.
Used to be pretty intensive almost an year back, now it is pretty vanilla. Lc mediums at best and also depending on what level they are slotting, you can expect system design related discussions. Also don't worry if you screw up a bit, they have quite a bit of wiggle room. Source, I know a hiring manager from Grab (prev Fang) struggling to hire.
Yegge ?
Also curious.
