Green card interview after switching company

Hi blinders! I have a pretty peculiar circumstance that I want to discuss before contacting my lawyers. I recently moved jobs and in my previous company I had my i-485 filed. Two weeks ago, I received my advanced parole card and my lawyer's advise was to tell my previous employer to withdraw my application. I was going to do that this week but I have now received my i-485 interview notice. Should I follow the advise of my lawyers, ask my lawyers again with this updated info, or just attend the interview? I really don't want to go through this tedious process again and I feel like the interview will go well. What do you guys think? Has anyone been through the same situation? My application has been pending for more than 180 days prior to leaving my previous employer who sponsored the process. I thought this means that AC21 applies here which is why I was confused about my lawyers advice...

Just ask your lawyer. Why would you want advice from here while there are professionals who could help you

Microsoft big j OP Aug 14, 2019

Because I feel like my "professionals" have already misguided me. AC21 by submitting my i485j during the interview seems like the best action here...

Lawyer suggestion seems fishy. I would consult another one. I would assume you should be fine with just bringing i485j to the interview with you.

let your lawyer fuck off. you are legal to move company and continue your AOS.

Microsoft big j OP Aug 14, 2019

Agreed, can you think of any reason why they are giving me this advice? I can't think of any reason...

Why don't you ask this back to your lawyer?

Microsoft big j OP Aug 14, 2019

Will do, but I'll definitely attend the interview even if they tell me not to because I see no reason not to do it...

I don't know how these visas work, but why would you switch jobs knowing that something is currently in progress?

Oracle pzd Aug 14, 2019

It's a little different from a visa, because op has an i-485 pending. They can often be pending for a long time, so the law allows an applicant to switch jobs after it's been pending 6 months.

I'm not going to be miserable at a company just because of immigration issues. Your question outlines everything wrong with the immigration system...

I agree with you that the lawyer's advice doesn't sound right. Did they explain why they are asking you to withdraw?

Microsoft big j OP Aug 14, 2019

No reason. I've already sent them an update by email. I won't give up without a reason this time. I just need them to fill out an i485j and to have a new medical and I should be golden

I think you also need a new letter of introduction from your current employer. (I was asked to present one, though I was with the same company that filed the i-485.) My point is, you need the support of your current employer to go through with this. You can't get your i-485 approved against their wish, so it makes sense to resolve the matter with the lawyer. At Oracle, hr won't lift a finger on immigration matters without recommendation from BAL.
