Green card sponsorship
Hi, I'm negotiating an offer from a series D startup and they are open to file employer sponsored green card application for me, as a part of the deal. I wonder whether this has to be put in the offer with specific terms that protect me, if situation changes and they pull out at some point. I'm currently on TN1 visa.
Indeed, thanks for the tip. Someone on Blind told me, that I can apply for new TN without leaving US and it's valid for a year.
Try and switch to H1 each year until you are successful and you’ll save the hassle of TN getting rejected because of GC application. Also TN is single intent so eventually you’ll have to switch to H1, which is dual intent as you won’t be able to jump to GC directly from TN.
Just marry someone with a citizenship.

So should I urge the employer to put it in writing in the offer, that they are going to get me a green card or just trust their word? How does it work in FAANG?
I am not from FAANG but I didn't put anything in writing. It's automatic in all big companies, nothing to negotiate about. However since this is a startup may be better put it part of the offer and agree on timeline. As they say, better be safe than sorry!
Timing has to be done well, If you apply for a new TN with green card pending they will deny it
I still have about 2 years and 8 months for my current TN visa.
You will have to apply for a new one with the new employer, process could take a while, you should not leave the country when they apply
