Green card wait: Anyone here considering a move to New Zealand?

Anyone here consider immigrating to New Zealand to avoid the green card wait in the US? Does New Zealand have a tech sector to speak of, and if so, in what cities? What are the career prospects like in tech and financial services in the country? With all the Silicon Valley VCs buying retirement property in NZ, could there be a burgeoning start up scene in the making in NZ? It seems in general like a welcoming and friendly country like Canada, unlike Australia, which can be racist at times from what I hear. Would love to hear from folks who have looked at NZ as a possible long term destination.

You can’t live in India unless you are born there or have ridiculously amount of money

Why would you need to be rich to live in India

Going by post and green card wait he is definitely from India, also untrue that you need ridiculous amount of money to live in India

India have too many disadvantages compared to US. All the pros of India apart from social aspect is related to money. You don’t want to be middle class in India , you are much better of staying in US and waiting for green card. That’s from my personal experience.

Also our family seriously considered moving to India one time and we actually lived there for couple of months for trial basis expecting to have the same standard or luxury we had in US plus more of house help. In the end we were saving less in amount and in percentages compared to US. India is super comfortable but also super costly if you need all luxury of India

I’m Australian, the Aus tech scene is pretty limited compared to the US, so I can’t imagine NZ has a lot of good opportunities, could be wrong though. There’s a little racism but it’s mostly restricted to politics and not the general public. Australia has the advantage of having a Google office you could transfer to or a few other top tier employers with eng offices - Apple, Atlassian. Completely honestly the eng standards I’ve encountered in NA blow away anything in Aus.

We also have an office in NZ but have no idea if there’s anything other than the classic sales/pr teams we have in smaller markets

I don't understand the fascination with moving to obscureass non growth economies. What's next? You want to move to Czech republic? - I hear Prague is really beautiful. If China, India and US are the only economies you've been exposed to, you gonna be mighty disappointed in these tinyass economies. They cannot support their own people's jobs.

The OP is mostly likely of Indian origin and works for Google. Fair to assume they will be able to get a nice job in India (Goog, msft, amzn, Uber etc) IMO Indian tech sector will get more prominent in the coming years - thanks to MAGA and insane competition for talent in the bay area .

Isn’t India becoming expensive in terms of hiring and there are other countries coming up in terms of low cost ?

Xilinx miaomiaomi Sep 17, 2018

I heard a news that now people from the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand can freely move for jobs now.
