Growth at Uber

I've received an L3 offer at Uber and the TC is a bit lower than the other offers I have. I'm more concerned about career growth and TC 3-5 years down the line as opposed to starting TC. Right now I'm under the impression that Uber would be my best bet since it seems like the ability to take more responsibility will let me get promotions faster when compared to industry standard (perhaps leaving Uber in 1-2 years). Would definitely like a second opinion though. Offer: 118/100/15

I’d worry more about the stock and layoffs

What’s the TC they offered? May be it’s not that low as you might think

I’d strongly caution Uber at the moment. I feel like they’d need to pay up for talent in their current situation.

Agreed, Uber should be paying a premium to compensate for layoff risk, equity risk, and widespread tech debt

How does Uber have tech debt?? Call me gobsmacked 😶

3 years at Uber here. Can vouch for slow comp growth across the team (raise or promo) and, whatever they tell you, those promotions don’t come any quicker than any other company

Make a uturn. Irrespective of the offer, the company is just very unstable inside.

Uh... Don't. Slow promos, potential for layoffs, no real learning

Uber 70kTC Oct 22, 2019

Do you want 50-70k TC and interviewing again? The long-time employees without connections were likely laid off by the third cycle so management will have to blame new hires for future lack of performance, even a higher percentage than prior cycles. New hires are meat shields to protect their favorites from future cycles.
