I got laid off on h1b visa and thinking to move to b2 to buy extra time for job search. Confusion / Questions : - Do I get 180 days while my b2 is being processed or after? - Under what circumstances I need to leave US ? - Does anyone has experience new employer is hesitant to file change from b2 to h1 change? - What happens to my current h1b visa ? Its going to expire next year. - Does my h1 visa get extended once new employer files for it. - Any other drawbacks? TC : 0 #workvisa #h1b #b2 #layoff

This helps thanks
You get 180 days from when your B2 status starts, because you need to fill in the start date and end date on the B2 application form You will need to leave the US if you don't get a job by the end date you put on the B2 application form Consulting companies are refusing to take B2 candidates. Randstad, collabera, other desi companies You just need employer to transfer H1B. You have total 6 years validity without I140 or unlimited with I140. H1B end date will be as per the new petition that you'll get from new employer
Do you know reason why consultancies are not taking b2 candidates?
They still want payslips.. And refuse to accept the new rule that you can still job search on B2
Did you successfully move to h1 back?
In a similar situation. Hopwfully, someone shares their expirence.
