I’m jumping ships and was curious to know this. If my H1 transfer is initiated and let’s say it gets rejected and I’m still employed with current employer. Does that mean I can’t continue working with present employer too?
Why would they reject you ? Any reasons you can think of. I have seen RFE but not rejection
Saw a couple of posts on blind so just thinking what if scenarios. I haven’t heard many rejects either
May be some weird cases but we are seeing no issues for H1b transfer. It might take a few more weeks but it will go through provided your immigration team is strong enough
Do not jump ship until you get your new H1B confirmed (i797)
Gotcha. Can I tell my new employer I won’t be joining until H1 transfer is approved?
Ideally yes - it takes just 15 days for premium processing which IMO is a must
I know of someone who jumped ship on the reciept only to have his h1 rejected. The reason given : Hire a local. He did not have a masters and was transferring from Cisco to vm
I too remember another kid’s post here who jumped ship to amazon on receipt and later it was rejected. That makes it two guys from well known tech companies :(
Do you know his role etc?
Transfer rejected means your current employment is still valid and u can continue
Ya but will your former employer want to have you back?
The context is that current employer won’t be told about resigning until H1 is approved. If it gets rejected, current employer won’t even know I’m jumping ships, and the ship will continue to sail..
Don’t worry too much. All those who passed (99.9%) never say anything and it’s all those who saw rejections came out are getting your attention. As long as you are being hired into a well known established company with descent pay and your degree matches your position, you are good. It doesn’t matter if it’s a masters degree or bachelors.
Yup this is legit advice. Thank you.
Also it really depends on the attorney who is taking care of your petition. A shitty attorney can ruin your petition. But that’s not the case for big techs. Relax.
This is exactly what these companies want. Employees chained to the company.
@hey OP any update on your transfer?
Not yet, not much communication. Maybe they’re still preparing documents

Yes, as long as you don't inform the current company that you are jumping ship. As long as they don't revoke the visa, you should be good.
